The KOAC Records document the establishment and functioning of the KOAC public radio and television stations at Oregon Agricultural College (Oregon State University). The records include adminstrative records, radio scripts and programs, and sound recordings. KOAC radio broadcasts began in 1923; KOAC-TV broadcasts began in 1957.

After he received his degree in agriculture from Oregon Agricultural College in 1916, Kadderly began working for the Cooperative Extension Service as a county agent in Multnomah County, Oregon. In 1922 Kadderly was transferred to the central office at Corvallis, where he was in charge of information and exhibits. On Dec. 7, 1922, Oregon Agricultural College was granted a license to begin broadcasting radio station KFDJ, which had been put together as a lab experiment by OAC Physics Professor Jacob Jordan. The station's first broadcast was on Jan. 23, 1923 from the third floor of Apperson Hall. A Visual Instruction Department was created around 1932 as a unit of the Oregon State System of Higher Education's General Extension Division, and was located on the Oregon State College campus in Corvallis.
